Internet hip-hop sensation Rod Wave first made waves when his single, “Heart On Ice,” became viral on the social media platform, Tiktok. The single soared through the Billboard Hot 100 chart and peaked at number 25. The single preceded Wave’s debut album, Ghetto Gospel, which released another two hit singles, “Cuban Links” and “Close Enough to Get Hurt.” The album entered the top 5 of Billboard’s Top Rap Albums charts and peaked at number 10 on the Billboard 200. Eventually, Wave’s debut release sold more than one million units in the U.S., earning platinum status.
After his debut album’s phenomenal success, Wave continued his chart-performing streak by releasing his 2020 album, Pray 4 Love. The record peaked at number 2 on the Billboard 200 and spawned eight hits, including the title track and “Dark Clouds.” From 2021 to 2022, Wave’s follow-up albums, SoulFly, and Beautiful Mind, topped the Billboard 200 and two other Billboard charts. SoulFly, released in 2021, earned a platinum certification after selling more than one million units in the U.S. The album, which was preceded by hit singles “Street Runner” and “Tombstone,” featured guest performances by Kodak Black and Lil Durk. In 2022, Rod Wave’s latest album, Beautiful Mind, also featured guest appearances, this time by rap sensation Jack Harlow and December Joy. The whopping 24-track album contains songs written by Ed Sheeran, Conan Gray, The Lumineers’ Jeremy Frates, Tall as Lion’s Daniel Nigel, and many more.
