As part of the tour, Weezer will visit Sacramento, San Francisco, Portland, Vancouver, Seattle, Denver, Chicago, Dallas, Austin, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and more.
Today the band consists of Cuomo, Wilson, Cuomo’s band mate Brian Bell (guitar) and Scott Shriner (bass). Weezer is known for the hits from their self-titled album (the “Blue Album”) including “Buddy Holly,” “Undone – The Sweater Song,” “Say It Ain’t So,” “Beverly Hills,” “Island in the Sun,” and “Hash Pipe.” Their latest single, “Shine Again,” is from their upcoming 16th studio album.
To date, Weezer have sold over 10 million albums in the United States alone and 35 million worldwide. Weezer has received numerous Grammy nominations and wins as well as a slew of MTV Video Music Awards. The band’s Blue Album was triple platinum certified.
The indie rock band is known for their unique sound that fuses together elements of psych-pop and folk to create a distinctive sound and experience for fans. The band’s engaging and authentic sound will be displayed through powerful performances of songs such as “New Slang,” “Australia,” and “Phantom Limb.” The band has a diverse collection of albums, including Oh, Inverted World (2001), Chutes Too Narrow (2003), Wincing the evening Away (2007), Port of Morrow (2012), and their most recent album, Heartworms (2017).
In 2008, the band received a Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Music Album for Wincing the evening Away. Oh, Inverted World was awarded platinum certification. Interestingly, the band got much recognition with the song “New Slang” from the 2004 film Garden State.
The band is comprised of Brian Aubert on lead vocals and guitar, Nikki Monninger on bass, Chris Guanlao on drums and Joe Lester on keyboards. While songs like “Panic Switch” and “Lazy Eye” deliver a massive wall of sound that classifies their style as shoegaze-influenced alternative rock, the new songs from their 16th studio album due to be released in February 2016, Tentertracks, will be a great opportunity to experience three new songs performed LIVE!
Silversun Pickups have an impressive repertoire of albums that received great reviews from the critics and have charted on the Billboard charts. These include: Carnavas (2006), Swoon (2009), Neck of the Woods (2012), Better Nature (2015), Widow’s Weeds (2019) and Physical Thrills (2022). One thing I found interesting about this LA rock band was that their debut album Carnavas, released in 2006, had all of the hit singles from the album reach the top 10 on the Billboard Modern Rock charts.
